Director's Biography

Kabir Khan is one of Bollywood’s most sought-after directors. After being noticed for his cinematography for Gautam Ghose’s documentary Beyond the Himalayas (1995), Khan made his directorial debut with the documentary The Forgotten Army (1999). A respected and prolific producer, his filmography as a director also includes Kabul Express (2006), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), ’83 (2021) and Mysterious Brother (2022).

In 1983, India’s national cricket team became
World Cup champions, beating the defending
champions in a historic final. India was not
even among the favourites to win, but young
captain in Kapil Dev led them to a triumph that
would go on to revolutionise the game in India
and sow the seeds of the nation becoming
the cricket powerhouse it is today. ’83 is also a
tribute to the winning squad: Captain Kapil Dev,
