The most influential Indian filmmaker of recent times with a superlative career including more than fifty films as director, producer, screenwriter, editor and actor, Anurag Kashrap was named a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres when the Festival de Cannes celebrated 100 years of Indian cinema. His work remains internationally acclaimed; among his films are Black Friday (2005), which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles; Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), Ugly (2013) and Psycho Raman (2016), all of which had their premiers in the Directors’ Fortnight at the Festival de Cannes. He produced Ritesh Batra’s multi-award-winning The Lunchbox (2013), along with numerous other successful films including Almost Love (2022), a presentation of the Marrakech International Film Festival this year.
