Director and screenwriter Tarik Saleh was born in Stockholm in 1972. He made his directorial debut with Metropia (2009), which had its premiere at the Venice Film Festival in the Critics’ Week. He also directed The Contractor (2022) and several episodes of the television series Westworld (2018) and Tommy (2014). He wrote and directed The Nile Hilton Incident (2017), which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, received the Guldbagge Award for Best Film, and was a box office hit in France. Adam, the son of a fisherman, is offered the ultimate privilege: to study at AlAzhar University in Cairo, the epicentre of power of Sunni Islam.
