Hlynur Pálmason was born in Iceland in 1984. He started out as a visual artist and continued his career in filmmaking by pursuing education at the Danish National Film School. He lives and works in Iceland and Denmark with his wife and three children. His filmography includes the short films A Day or Two (2012), A Painter (2013), Seven Boats (2014), and Nest (2022), and three feature-length works: Winter Brothers (2017), A White, White Day (2019), and Godland (2022).
In the late nineteenth century, a young Danish priest travels to a remote part of Iceland to build a church and photograph the local people. But the deeper he goes into the unforgiving landscape, the more he strays from his purpose, the mission, and morality.
