Born in Somalia, Ahmed Abdullahi is a Swedish screenwriter and director. He has made several critically acclaimed award-winning films, most notably the documentary I Am Dublin (2015), and the shorts The Martyr (2018), a Guldbagge winner, and Francis (2016), which was shortlisted for the Foreign Student Academy Award. Abdullahi was also selected by EFP Future Frames Generation NEXT as one of ten most interesting new filmmakers to keep an eye on. Savage (2022) is his feature-length narrative film debut.
Amina, a young and talented mixed martial arts fighter, is striving to get back to her passion. With no support from her parents, she struggles to raise her seven-year-old daughter. Against all odds, she gets a shot at the MMA world championships. Now, she is forced to make the toughest choice of her life: whether to be a world-class fighter or the mother she is expected to be.
