Director's Biography

Joanna Hogg was born in London in 1960. After working as a photographer and then as a director in television, she made Unrelated (2008), her first feature-length f ilm, which won numerous awards including the FIPRESCI Prize at the London Film Festival. The acclaimed films Archipelago (2010) and Exhibition (2013) followed. The Souvenir (2019) premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Award, and was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best International Film. The Souvenir Part II (2021) had its premiere at the Festival de Cannes and was nominated for the Gotham Award for Best International Feature Film and the BIFA for Best British Independent Film. The Eternal Daughter (2022), Hogg’s most recent feature, had its premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
