Biographie

Laurence J. Fishburne III is an acclaimed actor, producer, and director with a career spanning decades since his feature-film debut at age 12 in Cornbread, Earl and Me. At 15, he appeared in Francis Ford Coppola’s celebrated Apocalypse Now. His extensive filmography includes his iconic role as Morpheus in the Wachowski siblings’ The Matrix trilogy, John Singleton’s Boyz n the Hood and Higher Learning, Steven Spielberg’s The Color Purple, Steven Zaillian’s Searching for Bobby Fischer,  Clint Eastwood’s Mystic River, and the cult classics Deep Cover by Bill Duke and King of New York by Abel Ferrara. Fishburne’s versatility has earned him multiple awards. He won a Tony Award in 1992 for Two Trains Running and his first of several Emmy Awards in 1993. That same year, he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his portrayal of Ike Turner in What’s Love Got to Do with It. In 2000, he co-founded Cinema Gypsy Productions, which has produced award-winning projects like Akeelah and the Bee and the hit series black-ish and its spinoffs, in which he also starred.
