Cherien Dabis is a Palestinian American filmmaker, director, writer, producer, and actor dedicated to telling the authentic stories of underrepresented communities. An Emmy nominee for directing Only Murders in the Building, she has also directed episodes of Ramy and Ozark, and written for The L Word and Empire. Her debut feature Amreeka had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, won the FIPRESCI Prize at the Festival de Cannes, and was the most-screened film directed by an Arab in US cinemas. Dabis’s second feature, May in the Summer, in which she also starred, opened Sundance in 2013. Her most recent film, All That's Left of You, also premiered at Sundance.
In the moments before a Palestinian teen is confronted by Israeli soldiers at a protest in the West Bank, his mother recounts the series of events that led him to that fateful moment, starting with his grandfather’s displacement from Jaffa in 1948. All That’s Left of You is an epic historical drama that chronicles the story of one family over three generations and examines the passing down of trauma to each of them.
