Dima El-Horr’s work explores identity as a shifting construct, tracing how histories of war inscribe themselves onto bodies and shape collective memory. Her films, which have wone numerous awards, have been screened at numerous major international festivals, museums, and other institutions. El-Horr holds a PhD in film studies from Paris-East Créteil University and is the author of Mélancolie libanaise, le cinéma après la guerre civile. Her most recent documentary, And the Fish Fly Above Our Heads, had its premiere at Visions du réel and received the Zonta Award.
Time goes by and Lebanon continues to sink. Between past and present, sleep and wakefulness, dreams and reality, Réda, Adel, and Qassem just wait by the sea—not for a miracle to come and rescue them, but for the whole country to be wrecked.
