Víctor Iriarte was born in Bilbao in 1976. An artist, filmmaker, and film programmer, he has been a member of the selection committee of the San Sebastián International Film Festival since 2015 and the director of film programming at the Tabakalera International Centre for Contemporary Culture in San Sebastián for nine years. He is a founding member of the Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola film school. In 2001, he was second assistant director to Isaki Lacuesta on the feature film Cravan vs Cravan and, in 2010, director of photography on the feature film Buenas noches, España by Filipino director Raya Martin. Since 2005, Iriarte has been combining his programming with creating his own work. Foremost by Night is his second feature film.
When Vera was young, she was unable to take care of her son and had to give him up for adoption. Years later, when she tried to find him, the institutions told her that her file did not exist. She has continued to look for him ever since. When Cora was young, her doctor told her she could not have children. She has dedicated her life to teaching piano lessons and caring for her adopted son, Egoz, who is about to turn eighteen. Now, the paths of these three — mother, son, and mother — are about to intersect. The encounter will change their lives forever.
