Director's Biography

Born in Morocco in 1970, Adil El Fadili studied at the Conservatoire Libre du Cinéma Français in Paris. After his studies, he returned to Morocco to pursue his passion. He began by co-writing and directing television films and series broadcast on Morocco’s National Radio and Television Company. In 2010, El Fadili produced and directed his first short film, Short Life. The film was been selected for many prestigious festivals, including the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, the Dubai International Film Festival, the Aspen Film Festival, and the Valladolid International Film Festival, and was screened in nearly fifty countries. My Dad Is Not Dead (2023) is his first feature-length film.

In the presence of the film crew

Malik and his father Mehdi live at a funfair, where they work as handymen. One day, the two set off for a theatre to pick up some publicity posters but accidentally find themselves in the middle of a political rally. When they see the posterst, two cops accuse Mehdi of anti-government propaganda and rough him up in front of MalikLater that night, the police burst into the funfair to arrest Mehdi. Shocked, Malik starts searching for his father with the help of the other showmen.
