Her first feature-length film, Salt of the Sea, was selected for Un Certain Regard at Cannes and won 14 international awards, including a FIPRESCI Prize. It was the first feature directed by a Palestinian woman, and was Palestine's submission to the Academy Awards. It was followed by When I Saw You, which was named Best Film at the Berlin International Film Festival and the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, and Wajib. Jacir co-founded Philistine Films, an independent production company that focuses on productions related to the Arab world and Iran. Palestine 36, her most recent feature, which she wrote and directed, had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and represents Palestine at the Academy Awards.
